Dallas is a wonderful city that is the fourth largest metropolitan area in the country. It has so much to offer, from shopping and entertainment to top-notch restaurants, the city has just about anything you would want.

Here is a list of free things to do in Dallas. 

White Rock Lake 

Located approximately 5 miles from downtown Dallas, White Rock Lake has lots to enjoy and is one of the most popular parks in the area. The park offers hiking and biking trails, rowing, fishing, picnic areas, and so much more. If you’re lucky, you may even catch one of the events that are held here throughout the year. 

NorthPark Center

Ranked the #1 tourist destination in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, NorthPark Center is much more than your typical mall. Here you can walk around, window shop and enjoy the Center’s internationally acclaimed 20th and 21st-century museum-quality art collection. The collection features work by many renowned artists from all over the US and other parts of the world. 

The Samurai Collection 

The Samurai Collection is housed in the historic Saint Ann Building, this museum has one of the largest and most complete collections of samurai objects in the world. The museum was created in 2012 and is always expanding and currently has a collection of nearly 1,000 objects. Admission is free and there are lots of events and activities that are offered as well. 

McKinney Avenue Trolley

You can take a free ride on one of the many restored, vintage trolleys that run throughout Downtown and Uptown Dallas. This unique form of transportation makes several stops along the way. The trolleys are in operation 365 days a year that provides you with a safe, reliable, and clean way to get around. 

J. Erik Jonsson Central Library

Opened in 1982, this library is a neat one to check out. It is an 8 story building full of books, a kids center, and exhibits. You can view more than the large book collection, the library also has on display William Shakespeare’s first folio and an original print of the Declaration of Independence. 

Crow Collection of Asian Art

Crow Collection of Asian Art is another great museum that is located in the heart of the Dallas Arts District.  Here you can view artwork, centuries-old artifacts, and a breathtaking sculpture garden. The museum also features many rotating and permanent exhibits of art from China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia.  They also offer yoga, wellness classes, meditation, lectures, and many art events.
