Whether you are looking for a fun day with your children or a night out with adult friends, this museum has something for everyone. The building, that looks like a giant box, has 11 permanent exhibit halls that will allow you to explore nearly everything. Here are some of the current and permanent exhibits:

  • The Ultimate Race allows you to see if you can run faster than a NFL player or T-Rex
  • Journey through our solar system and beyond to discover dwarf planets, comets, and more

Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza

One of the most memorable moments in US history was the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. This museum takes you through his life, death, and legacy of infamous JFK through films, photographs, and artifacts. An exhibit for Martin Luther King and Robert F. Kennedy just recently opened and is a must-see.

The Dallas Contemporary

Take a stroll through this unpretentious museum featuring many established and up-and-coming artists in the area. You can even take photos in front of any of the exhibits without the fear of a security guard stopping you. The best part? The museum is 100% free!

Dallas Heritage Village

Wanting a day outside while still learning about the history of the DFW area? This museum is not just inside a building but is comprised of an entire neighborhood stuck in the late 1800s. If you are visiting in December, you can take part in the annual Candlelight event with great food and carriage rides.

National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame

The National Cowgirl Museum boasts the fact that it is the only museum in the world dedicated to honoring extraordinary, pioneer women of the American Wild West. This amazing museum recently expanded to include a second floor with exhibits showing the relationship between women, horses, and the West. You can learn about the famous Annie Oakley and so much more on the main floor.
